The University of Georgia’s Cheerleading program consists of a group of highly motivated and committed student athletes making up a coed team and an all-girl team. Members proudly serve as ambassadors for the university, the athletic association, and the Athens’ community as well. In doing so, they exhibit immense pride and have proven to play an integral part in maintaining the excellent brand UGA enjoys nationwide.
When attending a football, basketball, gymnastics, or volleyball sporting event, the positive impact of our program is evident. Regardless of our role, the main objective is encouraging positive fan engagement while cheering on our Bulldogs. To be successful in accomplishing this, a total commitment by each cheerleader is necessary. This is made every April when team selection occurs and ends the following April when a new team is selected for the next year. Along with two to three weekly practices and working once weekly with strength and condition coach, members also participate in campus events as well as those for the city of Athens. Most importantly, all of this occurs while participants carry a full academic load. For the past decade, the program has amassed an average GPA of 3.4 or above.
We take tremendous pride in maintaining the positive brand of the university and showcasing it whenever the opportunity presents itself. Whether this requires cheering for back to back national championships, NCAA basketball tournaments, SEC events, or collecting and donating toys for needy children, these experiences aid in molding the program’s members into well-rounded, contributing members of society long beyond the college experience.
It’s Great to be a Georgia Bulldog!
